HOW TO MAKE WAJE
When discussing
about traditional food, our stomach will not be enough to accommodate all
traditional food typical of the archipelago. How not, abundant biodiversity has
been provided as a local food ingredient in every region. No exception on the
island of Buton, Southeast Sulawesi. In this area there is a traditional food
called waje cake.
Waje is a
traditional cake from Buton which is made from white sticky rice that mixed
with coconut, coconut milk and brown sugar steamed. This Waje cake is a bit
like Wajik cake which is typical Sundanese food, but although similar waje
still different and have a unique taste. For culinary enthusiasts of the
archipelago, must taste the waje cake if a visit to the island of Buton, such
as Wakatobi, Baubau or the surrounding area.
Here there are
some ingredients needed to make waje cake which is a traditional cake typical
of Southeast Sulawesi
Ingredients: 400
grams sticky rice, washed, soaked 1 hour, 400 ml of coconut milk from 1/2
coconut, 1 lemon grass, dimemarkan, 75 grams brown sugar, grated. 1/4 teaspoon
salt, and 1 teaspoon of fried oil.
How to Make: Cucumber steamed until cooked 1 hour, then cook
coconut milk and lemongrass until the oil runs out. Next add the brown sugar
and salt. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Then enter glutinous steamed while
stirring until well blended. Add cooking oil, stir well, then Lift. After the
steamed pan wrapped a sheet of corn, or poured in a pot measuring 20x20 cm
which is a leaf. Then in Flatten, after Cold, Cut, And the last waje cake is
ready to serve.
