My Homemade Buras
Burasa
or buras is a type of rice dumpling cooked with coconut milk packed inside a
banana leaf pouch. It is a delicacy of the Bugis and Makassar people of South
Sulawesi, Indonesia, and often consumed as a staple to replace steamed rice or
ketupat. It is similar to lontong, but with richer flavour acquired from
coconut milk.
First,
prepared the tools and material. The tools like the pan, container, clippers, a
spoon. And the material as the rice, coconut milk, banana leaves, a brace,
water and salt. Then mixed rice and coconut milk in the pan using a spoon. Or
can also use hand, but should use gloves. Add salt to taste.
Then,
selected special banana leaves. Because, the wrong ones would make the buras
rice dark when cooked. The wrapped buras is then flattened using horizontal
rubbing movement. Thick thread is tied thightly around a stack of three wrapped
buras. The leaves colour of the cooked buras. The buras are boiled in a deep
