Soto Ayam, The Popular Food With Many Variant

Soto Ayam is a popular food in Indonesia and it has various type based on where the Soto Ayam was made. I mean, Soto Ayam that made by people in South Celebes have a little bit different with Soto Ayam that made by people in Central Java. But do not worry, I will give you simple ways to make Soto Ayam.

All you have to first is prepare the ingredients. 1 kilogram of chicken meat. 200 grams of bean sprouts or also called ‘Tauge’ that boiled for a seconds. 200 grams of cabbage. 50 grams of mihun or also called as ‘Bihun’ that submerged on the warm water. 2 tomatoes. 4 potatoes, you may boiled it or fry it. 3 boiled eggs. Fried onion adequately. And of course 2 liters of water.

Well, that is just a general ingredients. We also have to prepare ingredients that use as the cooking spices. The ingredients are 2 sheets of bay leaves, 2 sticks of lemongrass, a stick of leek, 25 grams of galangal, 5 grams of turmeric, 15 grams of ginger, 3 cloves of onion, 2 cloves of garlic, 4 candlenuts, 2 tablespoons of salt, ½ teaspoons of pepper, and last but not least 2 tablespoons of olive oil. All the ingredients that use as the cooking spices are smoothed and then sautéing it until the aroma is out.

The next step are boiled the chicken on the pan with the cooking spices that already sautéing. Then, add galangal, bay leaves, and lemongrass to the decoction of chicken. Cook for 30 minutes until the meat is well cooked. Add salt and pepper to the chicken broth. Separate the meat and the bone of chicken or ‘Suwir’. After that, add slices of leek to the broath and wait until boiling.

Take the bowl that will be used to serve the Soto Ayam. Put the slices of cabbage, mihun, potatoes, bean sprouts, the slices of egg, the slices of tomato, and the chicken meat. After that, take the broth water and pour it to the ingredients that already prepared on the bowl. Last touch, put some garnish such as fried onion and slices of lime to the top of Soto Ayam. And now, Soto Ayam is ready to be served.
